What to do this Long Weekend in Brisbane

Scratch heading up or down the coast (who can be bothered with that M1 traffic?) this long weekend! Stick around Brisbane and spend your days off hopping between each Pig ‘N’ Whistle venue. Each Pig has plenty of live sport, music and entertainment to ensure you make the most of the last public holiday before Christmas.

Oktoberfest

Prost! Raise your stein to Albert Einstein, Bach, Beethoven, Audis, Volkswagens that are all people or products of Germany. Starting Friday lunch, it’ll be lederhosens and Löwenbräu galore because all Pig ‘N’ Whistle venues are celebrating Oktoberfest! There will be special German beers, wiener schnitzels and bratwurst all long weekend and costumes are of course, welcome. View the menu here.

Jam & Juice Open Mic Night

If you’re a talented and aspiring musician then come down this Friday night to Pig ‘N’ Whistle Brunswick Street and show us what you’ve got! A $250 paid gig at Newstead Brewing in Milton is on the cards and all performers will receive a complimentary drink on arrival. No registration is required… Simply rock up ready to perform!

AFL Grand Final

Adelaide are going in as favourites, having been the standout team for much of the year. They are also entering into ‘Richmond territory’ where the Tigers have played before crowds in excess of 90,000 people. Whatever the outcome, there’s no doubt “the big dance” will be an epic showdown. All Pig ‘N’ Whistle venues will be showing the game LIVE AND LOUD but if the pub isn’t your jam, order our pub grub from your couch via UberEats. Kickoff is 2:30pm.

If the final wasn’t enough, the monthly Car Meets & Eats event also takes place at Town Square Redbank Plains on Saturday night. All kids will eat for just $5 when the codeword ‘piglets’ is given upon ordering! Check our our kids menu at Redbank Plains here.

NRL Grand Final

For the second year running, the Melbourne Storm are back and they are looking in fine form. They’re playing the North Queensland Cowboys, who won the 2015 title so there’s certainty that this will be a cracker of a game to watch. Kickoff is 7:15pm plus all Pig ‘N’ Whistle venues will also be showing the State Championship (3.15pm) and the Holden Cup final (1.35pm). It’s the perfect opportunity to settle in from midday and snag the best seats in the house for the final. Did we mention that Monday is a public holiday?

Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday

All venues will be open on the public holiday on Monday however with some revised hours. After a huge weekend you’ll need some R&R and we’ve got you covered for that big fry-up once you crawl out of bed.
